Relying on an automated phone call, text message or email about a school closing/delay is not the most reliable method. Instead, we urge parents to take the following steps to stay informed:
* Check local media outlets first: The WGAL-TV website contains a school closings/delays link: http://www.wgal.com/weather/closings . Parents may sign up to have closing information sent directly to their email address or cell phone through WGAL’s notification system.

The decision to close or delay school is generally made by 5:15 a.m. and sometimes the night before. If a two-hour delay is in place and the district decides to close school, that decision is made by 7 a.m. The information is shared within minutes via the resources listed above.
