Three students in the french classes were awarded honors from the Le Grand Concours competition.

High schoolers earn silver medal, honorable mention awards

Four Penn Manor High School students have ranked nationally in the 91st annual Le Grand Concours competition. 

Ahmed Alfayyadh received a French 3 silver medal. Claire Roberts, Landon Smith, and Layla Wittensoldner earned Honorable Mention. Claire and Layla received French 3 awards and Landon received an award for French IV.

Ahmed attended the awards ceremony in Mechanicsburg with his family and French teacher Madame Klingaman. At the ceremony he received his medal and a large box of gourmet chocolates made by a local French Chocolatier.

Le Grand Concours is a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students were evaluated for their interpretive reading and comprehension skills in French. Over 46,000 students competed in the event in 2026.

The National French exam was administered to the French III and IV classes.
