The Military Club hosted a group of veterans on March 19 to discuss their experiences during the Vietnam War.
Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1008 met with students in the high school’s Military Club and Mr. Boxleitner’s social studies classes to share their experiences and showed memorabilia from their time in the Vietnam War.
The guests included: U.S. Army veterans Dan Duane, Ken Good, Denny Myers, Mike Mazzaro, and Pat Reynolds (Intelligence), U.S. Marines veteran Lour Farganis, and U.S. Navy veteran Mike Kunitsky.
The veterans spoke to students about their time in the military and some of the challenges they encountered while in Vietnam.
They discussed Agent Orange and how it negatively impacts service members and their families to this day, and what it was like to return to civilian life after the war.
Students were able to ask the veterans questions and enjoy a meal as a group. The Penn Manor cafeteria staff made sure the room was filled with red, white, and blue decorations.
We extend gratitude to these veterans for taking the time to share their knowledge and experiences with our students. We thank them for their service!
