Two Penn Manor High School students competed at the Region V Chorus Festival.

Students represent at Region V Chorus Festival

Earlier this winter, three Penn Manor students clinched a spot in the Region V Chorus Festival. Rayn Andreychek*, Matthew Palmeri, and Noah Tuel.

The students represented Penn Manor at the festival which was held at Warwick High School. Region V encompasses public and private schools from the following counties: Adams, Berks, Carbon, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Perry, Pike, Schuylkill, and York.

During the festival, all Region V participants re-audition for the culminating level of All-State Choir. The top six ranked on each voice part are selected for All-States.

Matthew Palmeri placed first on his voice part of Bass 1, qualifying him for the All-State Choir. Matthew will represent Penn Manor at the All-State Festival April 22 through 25 at the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos. The All-State Choir concert will take place on Friday, April 24 at 5:00 p.m. and will be conducted by Brian J. Winnie, Director of Choral Studies at Western Illinois University.

Lauren Ciemiewicz, High School Choral and Music Director, noted, “Matthew worked incredibly hard in preparation for the All-State Chorus audition. One of the pieces by J.S. Bach, Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied, was particularly difficult. Matthew worked meticulously to execute the piece with precision and was mindful of the unique articulations required in music of the Baroque era. He is so deserving of clinching the first place spot on his part.”

Congratulations on your hard work, choral students. Good luck at the All-State Choir festival, Matthew!
