Students from Conestoga Elementary volunteered in the Garden Club with fourth grade teacher Mrs. Fisher.
This six week program ran after school throughout the fall. The purpose of the club was to give students the opportunity to connect with nature, learn about plant life and experience the joy of growing their own food and flowers.
The Garden Club consisted of a group of 50 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. The students worked together to explore a variety of topics like seeds, herbs, composting and seasonal planting — all while developing teamwork, responsibility and environmental stewardship.
The Garden Club at Conestoga is sponsored by the school PTO and was funded by Tudbinks Greenhouse. Each year, the program is made possible through the dedication of four teacher volunteers and many supportive parent volunteers who help teach lessons, guide activities and ensure the program’s success.
The season culminated in a Garden Club Celebration where students proudly prepared and served foods made with ingredients from the garden to share with their families — a delicious and meaningful way to celebrate their learning and hard work!
Way to go, Conestoga Garden Club!
