Manor FFA is celebrating an impressive showing at the Pennsylvania FFA State Convention and Activities Week, which was hosted at Penn State University from June 10 through 12. Seven FFA teams earned awards in a variety of areas.
The Penn Manor High School ag students participated in leadership workshops, career and leadership development events, and fellowship opportunities while celebrating their accomplishments. The events are designed to develop college and career readiness, enhance communication and problem-solving abilities, and foster personal and professional growth.
The Poultry Evaluation Team of Misty Railing, Anna Frey, Leanne Kneisley, and Jozie Gilger placed first in the state. Misty was the top individual in the state, followed by Anna in second place, Leanne in third, and Jozie earning fourth – a sweep for the Manor FFA team.
Also earning first place was the Dairy Cattle Management and Evaluation Team of Jayden Buck, Gracie Shaiebly, Lillian Walborn, and Katie Charles.
The two teams will have the honor of representing Pennsylvania at the National FFA Convention & Expo at the end of October.
During the Agriscience Fair, Manor FFA’s Animal Systems Team of Emily Burkhart and Lydiah Nichols earned first place in the state.
The Agronomy Team of Emily Railing, Sara Gehr, Maybelle Rineer, Grace Keller, and Ava Crill were honored as the state runner up. Emily was awarded first place, followed by Sara in third, Grace in seventh, Ava in 10th, and Maybelle in 12th.
Manor FFA’s Veterinary Science Team of KK Welch, Sarah Souhrada, Emily Burkhart, and Lydiah Nichols placed second in the state and will compete in the Big E in Massachusetts in September. Emily was the fourth place individual, Sarah was ninth, and KK was 11th.
The Environmental and Natural Resources Team of Nate Frey, Weston Shertzer, Rachel Sensenich, and Abby Harnish earned 13th place.
Manor FFA’s Forestry Team of Ceejay Rettew, Grace Garrett, Kylie Fryer, and Lathan Axe earned fourth place. Lathan placed 11th followed by Grace in 12th.
Delvin Kneisley served as the Chapter Delegate on the Committee for Exploration and State Association Connections to the Alumni and Supporters by making recommendations to the state association on ways local chapters can connect with alumni and supporters.
