Four seniors to address Class of 2025 at June 4 commencement

Four Penn Manor seniors will address the audience when the Penn Manor High School Class of 2025 holds commencement on Wednesday, June 4, at Franklin & Marshall College.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. at F&M’s Alumni Sports and Fitness Center, located on Harrisburg Pike, at the intersection of Race Avenue. F&M personnel will help direct vehicles to parking on site.

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the Penn Manor YouTube channel.

This year’s speakers are valedictorian Jordan Chen, salutatorian Tyler Hudson, Haley Frey and Katie Eberts. Below are their comments about their four years at Penn Manor.

Jordan is the son of Kui Chen and Xiao Zheng of Mountville. After graduation, he plans to attend Harvard University and study neuroscience on a pre-med track.

“What I’ve loved most about Penn Manor is the people, especially the teachers who taught us things that apply to real life, like thinking through a problem, communicating with other people, or surviving group projects without losing your mind,” Jordan said.

“Shout-out to all the teachers who went way beyond the lesson plan.”

Tyler is the son of Jeffrey and Jennifer Hudson of Manor Township. He plans to attend Franklin & Marshall College in the fall to pursue a degree in mathematics or finance.

“I am very thankful for the opportunity at Penn Manor to challenge myself through the dual enrollment program and the many advanced placement courses that were offered,” Tyler said. “Special thanks to Mr. Herman for his kindness while coaching me to throw javelin.”

Haley is the daughter of Klinton and Melissa Frey of Washington Boro. She plans to study social work in the fall at West Virginia University.

“My favorite part about Penn Manor is the teachers and administrators,” she said. “I have grown close to so many of them, and every one has had a lasting impact on my life. Whether it was growing my love for a subject or teaching me lessons for life outside of the classroom, every teacher I’ve had at Penn Manor has a special place in my heart.”

Katie is the daughter of Matthew and Chrissy Eberts of Manor Township. She plans to attend the College of Wooster to pursue a degree in neurobiology and minor in environmental sciences and women’s and gender studies.

“My favorite memories all stem from the amazing circle of people brought together by the school,” Katie said. “Between teachers, mentors, and friends, I will confidently be able to look back and say that I have made some unforgettable memories at Penn Manor High School.”

Each graduate received eight tickets for family and friends to attend commencement. Please read this communication to parents from high school principal Doug Eby for important details about the ceremony.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early because of the large number of individuals attending the event. We ask that no balloons be brought into the building so that all attendees can clearly see the stage.

We look forward to honoring the Class of 2025!
