Freshmen learn about STEM jobs during two-day STEM Summit

Penn Manor ninth-graders got to work with their hands – and their brains – as they completed activities in the high school gymnasium during the 2025 STEM Summit.

Held February 25 and 26, the event exposed freshmen to career opportunities in chemistry, engineering, the trades, environmental science, technology, biology and manufacturing.

The students rotated through eight different stations, where they worked in groups to construct a working sink, make bridges from spaghetti strands, program bots to create designs, learn the science behind blood tests, and identify hardware used in home repairs.

Professionals from STEM fields and the building trades volunteered to lead the exercises, which included information about the wide variety of STEM jobs available at local companies.

The Summit was sponsored by Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania, with the assistance of community volunteers and Penn Manor students.

Many thanks to JA and the volunteers who made this event possible for nearly 450 of our students.
