Congratulations to Penn Manor students and community members for raising more than $27,000 to assist childhood cancer patients and their families.
A total of $27,035.73 was raised for the Four Diamonds Fund through MiniTHON fundraisers this school year. Money was raised through Math Stall Day, FFA Line Dancing, Trunk or Treat, No Shave November, Powder Puff football game, food sales, and donations from community members and businesses.
A MiniTHON Community Night was held February 14 with games, food, laser tag and a bounce house, followed by an overnight miniTHON celebration for high school students.
“It was a great night ending with our fundraising total reveal,” said Billie Jo Kramer, Penn Manor MiniTHON Club advisor. “It was a team effort by the community, staff and students of Penn Manor to raise that much money.”
To kick the night off, Kramer and five Penn Manor students cut their hair to make wigs for cancer patients experiencing hair loss due to treatment.
MiniTHON events will continue with a faculty vs. students basketball GOLD OUT game at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, in the high school gymnasium. Admission is $5 or a donation of a new toy to the Megan Martin Toy Drive.
Megan was a warrior against cancer who would have been a Penn Manor senior this year. She lost her fight against cancer when she was in sixth grade.
Penn Manor’s MiniTHON Club includes more than 100 students. We thank them, and all the community members who joined them, in the fight against pediatric cancer “For The Kids!”
