PMEF awards grants totaling more than $35,000 to teachers, principals

Many thanks to Penn Manor Education Foundation for awarding 19 Venture Grants to our teachers and principals totaling $35,414 for fall 2024.

The grants will enable students to participate in educational field trips to Ellis Island, Gettysburg National Military Park, Fulton Theatre, Zoo America, and Kelly’s Run Nature Preserve.

Other grants are funding world drumming assemblies at all seven Penn Manor Elementary schools, presentations on County Parks and Recreation Science Programs, and the Cardboard Regatta science competition at the Millersville University swimming pool.

Several grants involved collaboration between departments and grade levels, one of the goals of this year’s grant program.

A high school assembly will explore the link between learning Spanish and working in the ag industry, and elementary students at several schools will be paired with high school art students to collaborate on embroidery and ceramics projects.

Other grants will fund a new color guard program at Marticville Middle School, slab rollers for clay projects at Letort and Hambright Elementary Schools and “level up” cognitive games at Pequea Elementary School.

In all, the grants will impact hundreds of students at all 10 Penn Manor schools. Teachers and principals will have an opportunity to apply for additional Venture Grants in the spring 2025 grant cycle.

We commend PMEF and its board members for providing the funding to make these projects possible!
