Sixteen Penn Manor High School seniors are vying for the title of 2024 Homecoming King and Queen while raising money to support Penn Manor families in need.
Ava Wolfersberger, Harrison Whited, Jack Warfel, Madelyn Stern, Janelle Ortiz, Alyssa Mattern, David Ferre, Kennedy Dings, Syria Davis, Owen Braas, Tyler Book, Cristofer Arias-Orozco, Eric Baker, Akriti Neupane, William Cassidy and Sophia Telesco are the homecoming candidates.
The king and queen will be crowned at halftime of Penn Manor’s homecoming football game against Wilson on Friday, October 11, at Millersville University’s Biemesderfer Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The homecoming dance will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 12, in the high school cafeteria.
Members of this year’s homecoming court are raising money for the Loft Community Partnership, which provides clothing, food and household supplies to Penn Manor families in need. Here are details on the homecoming court.
Ava Wolfersberger is the daughter of Michelle and Kris Murphy, who will be her escorts at homecoming.
At Penn Manor, Ava participates in the Penn Manor Marching Unit, Penn Manor Theatre, National Honor Society, Manor Singers, Orchestra, Civitas and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. She also is a class officer.
Ava plans to attend college and pursue a degree in music education.
Harrison Whited is the son of Karen and Roy Whited, who will be his homecoming escorts. At Penn Manor, he is captain of the volleyball and soccer teams and a Comet Boy.
Harrison plans to attend Stevenson University to major in business communications and play beach and indoor volleyball.
Jack Warfel is the son of Caryn and Ryan Warfel. His mother will be his homecoming escort. At Penn Manor, Jack plays for the football and lacrosse teams.
He plans to attend a four-year college to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
Madelyn Stern is the daughter of Michele Ericson and Michael Stern. Her father will be her homecoming escort.
At Penn Manor, she participates in the full chorus as vice president and section leader, Vocal Jazz as vice president, Penn Manor Theatre and the Thespian Club.
Madelyn plans to study elementary education in college, with a minor in musical theater.
Janelle Ortiz is the daughter of Celi and Jay Ortiz, who will be her escorts at homecoming. She is drumline section leader with the Penn Manor Marching Unit and participates in the Next Club.
Janelle plans to attend college and become an English teacher.
Alyssa Mattern is the daughter of Amanda and Brian Mattern, who will be her homecoming escorts.
She is captain of the volleyball team, leader of the Next Club and participates in MiniTHON, youth group and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Alyssa plans to pursue a business degree in college.
David Ferre is the son of Lorelei and Scot Ferre, who will be his homecoming escorts.
He participates in the Penn Manor Marching Unit, indoor percussion, concert band, orchestra, chorus, Manor Singers, Vocal Jazz and Jazz Bands, National Honor Society, Penn Manor Theatre and the Super Smash Bros. Club.
David plans to attend a four-year college.
Kennedy Dings is the daughter of JoAnn and Ryan Dings, who will be her escorts.
She is a captain of the soccer team and a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Next Club, MiniTHON, German Club, and Soccer Club.
Kennedy plans to attend Lebanon Valley College to play soccer and major in physical therapy.
Syria Davis is the daughter of Kayla Lewis and Cedric Davis. Her stepfather is John Lewis. Her father and stepfather will be her homecoming escorts.
Syria is a member of the Medical Club and Comet Nation and participates in cheerleading, track and the National Technical Honor Society.
She plans to major in medical sciences in college and become an anesthesiologist.
Owen Braas is the son of Michelle and Todd Brass. His mother will be his escort.
At Penn Manor, he participates in soccer, MiniTHON, and Ping Pong Club and is a Comet Boy.
Owen plans to major in health and medicine at Penn State University and become a neurophysician assistant.
Tyler Book is the son of Roxanne Book, who will be his escort.
He participates in the Attollo Scholar program, World Language Mentors Club, United Stories Club and the Global Scholar program.
Tyler plans to attend a four-year college and study business.
Cristofer Arias-Orozco is the son of Hector and Patricia Arias, who will be his homecoming escorts.
He is president of the National Honor Society and participates in the Attollo Scholar and Global Scholar programs, the Penn Manor Marching Unit, Diversity Equity and Inclusion Club, Civitas Club, United Stories, Science Olympiad and Link Crew.
Cristofer also is an English Language Support & Connections mentor and an ambassador for new native Spanish-speaking students at the high school.
He plans to attend a four-year college to study computer science or psychology.
Eric Baker is the son of Kim and Dennis Baker, who will be his escorts at homecoming.
He plans to become a homeowner.
William Cassidy is the son of Kyle and Amanda Cassidy, who will be his escorts.
He participates in the Penn Manor Theatre program, chorus and Venturing Crew.
William plans to major in theater in college.
Sophia Telesco is the daughter of Amy and Jeff Telesco, who will be her escorts.
She is a class officer and participates in MiniTHON Club, German Club, German Exchange Program, United Stories Club, Global Scholars and Girls on the Run.
Sophia plans to major in early childhood education and special education in college.
Akriti Neupone is the daughter of Kailash and Radhika Neupone. Her father will be her escort.
She is a class officer and participates in Civitas, Mock Trial, Model United Nations, Link Crew, Student Ambassadors, and the Attollo Scholar program.
Akriti plans to attend a four-year college and pursue a law degree.
