Over the past week, numerous social media posts have made threats of violence toward schools in the county. School officials are working with law enforcement to assess the credibility of these threats. This morning a report of rumored violence at the Willow Street CTC prompted its closure today, and again tomorrow. Unfortunately, tonight there have been multiple copycat posts naming other schools in the county including, Penn Manor. School officials and law enforcement agencies are actively investigating each report and taking appropriate action. We are closely monitoring social media and investigating all reports.
The safety of our students and staff is paramount. At this time there is no credible threat to our schools. School will open on time Friday (9/20/2024). As a reminder, we will follow our previously planned early dismissal schedule.
If you or your child(ren) receive or hear specific or first hand information that is a potential safety concern, please reach out to a school administrator immediately or use the online Safe2Say reporting system. Safe2Say is a statewide program monitored and staffed by trained professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. District administrators immediately receive the details of the report, regardless of the time of day.
