The Penn Manor School Board has approved the appointment of Dr. Shirley Murray as principal of Manor Middle School, effective July 1.
Dr. Murray, currently principal of Pequea Elementary, will replace Dr. Dana Edwards, who is retiring as Manor principal after 22 years of exemplary service with Penn Manor School District.
“Dr. Murray is a strong leader and compassionate educator who has led Pequea Elementary in many great ways,” said Penn Manor Superintendent Dr. Phil Gale. “We look forward to the leadership she will provide Manor Middle School in the years to come.”
Dr. Murray has been Pequea principal since 2013. She previously was principal at LeTort Elementary from August 2009 until December 2012.
In addition, she was an assistant principal at Manheim Central High School and a special education consultant with the School District of Lancaster.
Dr. Murray began her teaching career as an emotional support teacher with Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13.
She received her doctorate of education in 2019 from Millersville and Shippensburg Universities. She also has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a bachelor’s degree in special education, both from Millersville University.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to step into the role of principal at Manor Middle School,” Dr. Murray said. “The school’s rich history of excellence sets a high standard, and I’m eager to uphold and build upon it.”
“While I’ll miss the amazing professionals, students, and families I’ve had the privilege to work with at Pequea, I’m excited for this new chapter to serve the Manor Middle School community.”
Congratulations to Dr. Murray, and best wishes for retirement to Dr. Edwards!
