Suren Clark named National Merit finalist

Penn Manor senior Suren Clark has been named a National Merit Scholarship finalist.

He is among the 15,000 students who qualified for this honor from among the nearly 1.3 million students who took the qualifying exam. About 7,500 students are expected to win a National Merit Scholarship award.

More than 7,800 scholarships with a combined value of over $35 million will be awarded to National Merit winners later this year.

“Suren has consistently demonstrated a work ethic and a love for learning that has led to this honor, which is most deserving,” said Doug Eby, Penn Manor High School principal.

Suren took the PSAT in October 2022, which qualified him for consideration as a National Merit Scholarship recipient. He was named a semifinalist in October 2023.

“I am grateful and humbled by this honor,” he said. “What I have achieved is a testament to the teachers, administrators, and student body at Penn Manor that have created an atmosphere conducive to learning and success.”

This is the latest honor for Suren, who recently achieved a perfect score on his Advanced Placement Microeconomics exam, one of only 44 students from across the globe to achieve that feat, out of about 96,000 students who took the test in May 2023.
