The Penn Manor Marching Unit completed its fall 2023 competition season on a high note, placing second overall in the USBands Regional Competition, held October 28 in Camp Hill that included 15 bands from Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia.
In the divisional round, Penn Manor placed second, with a score of 83.7 points, less than two points out of first place. The Comets placed first in percussion, and had the fifth-highest score in the five divisions representing the 15 competing bands.
In the final round of the competition, Penn Manor scored 84.1 points, earning a seventh place overall finish and a third place in percussion out of the 10 marching bands competing.
“This band has persevered through a season filled with rain, injuries and setbacks,” said Andrew Johnson, high school band director and music teacher. “To do as well as they did in a brand new competition circuit is truly unprecedented.”
