Penn Manor has adopted updated requirements for when students must quarantine after exposure to COVID-19.
In all cases, parents of a student who has contact with someone who tests positive or who tests positive themselves for COVID-19 must notify the student’s school nurse and/or principal as soon as possible, even when school is not in session.
Due to recent updates to COVID-19 quarantine protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the PA Department of Health, Penn Manor is implementing the following self-quarantining requirements for students who have been exposed to and had direct contact with an individual who tested positive.
- If the student had direct contact with a family household member who tested positive, the student must complete a 10-day isolation period, followed by a 14-day self-quarantine, before returning to school.
- If the student had contact with a COVID-positive individual who is not a member of his/her household, the student must complete a 10-day self-quarantine and remain symptom-free before returning to school. Families must monitor for symptoms on days 11 through 14.
In addition, students over the age of 11 who travel outside of Pennsylvania must self-quarantine for 10 days before returning to school or obtain a negative COVID test within 72 hours of returning to Pennsylvania.
Students who test positive for COVID-19 will be advised by a medical professional on their isolation protocols.
These updated requirements take effect December 12.
