Penn Manor School District has formally agreed to comply with updated health and safety standards for schools implemented by state officials in November due to increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
Penn Manor superintendent Mike Leichliter and school board president Herk Rintz signed an attestation form stipulating that the district will comply with the following updated orders:
- The PA Department of Health order on face coverings
- The PA Department of Education order on recommendations to be followed if students/staff test positive for COVID-19
The new orders were implemented because Lancaster County is currently experiencing a “substantial” level of COVID-19 infections in the community, defined as 100 or more cases per 100,000 population for more than two consecutive weeks or a positivity rate of 10 percent or greater.
If a school district in the “substantial” category chooses to continue to offer full or partial in-person learning to its students, it is required to submit a signed attestation form to the state agreeing to the steps outlined in the two state orders.
