PM girls’ volleyball team earns fourth straight Team Academic Award

For the fourth year in a row, the Penn Manor girls’ volleyball team has earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

The 2019 varsity team qualified by earning a cumulative grade-point average of 3.7.

Four team members had GPAs of 4.0 or higher – Justine Fry, Jordan Schucker, Kailey Stoner and Taylor LoCurto – and two earned All-Star Awards – Jordan Schucker and Madison Henry.

The varsity team also included Alexia Barnett, Lillian Barton, Emma Grumbling, Alyssa Heagy, Sara Hollinger, Bethany Pettis, Madison Trout, Arial Smith and Lexington Sangrey.

“Our 2019 varsity team was a really fun group of girls who worked very hard to balance the demands of school, multiple sports, jobs, and philanthropy,” said head coach Tim Joyce.

“The team members really embraced a growth mindset and weren’t afraid to attack adversity and make mistakes on their way to learning and growing.”

Congratulations, ladies, on this impressive award. And thank you to all the Penn Manor coaches and teachers who helped make this possible.
