Several Penn Manor high school and middle school students recently earned county and district honors in music.
High School sophomore Maggie Eckroat and juniors Eleanor Helm and Evelyn Weaver have been selected to participate in the Lancaster Lebanon Music Educators Association County Orchestra Festival.
Eleanor, a violinist, will perform with the Sinfonia group. Maggie, a cellist, and Evelyn, who plays string bass, will perform with the full symphonic orchestra during the Feb. 8 festival at Cedar Crest High School.
Junior Hannah Stork has qualified to participate in the District 7 South Band Festival, to be held Feb. 13 to 15 at Central York High School. She plays the clarinet.
Senior Briana Shyver represented Penn Manor High School at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 7 Chorus Festival, held Jan. 17 at Central Dauphin High School. She qualified as a Soprano 2 after auditioning for a spot.
Seniors Garrison Webster and Jordan Stum recently qualified to participate in the PMEA District 7 Vocal Jazz festival, to be held March 20 and 21 at Central Dauphin High School.
Garrison placed third as a tenor, and Jordan placed third as a bass. They qualified based on auditions among a large field of students from schools in eight different counties.
In addition, 11 Penn Manor middle school students performed Jan. 25 at the Middle School County Band Festival at Manheim Township High School.
The students are Claire Eckroat, Casey Nussbaumer and Aman Shaik of Marticville Middle School, and Callie Tuel, Rose Emenheiser, Maya and Sophia Telesco, Drew Lebo, Carter Vinson, Owen Rothenberger and David Ferre of Manor Middle School.
Eight Penn Manor High School students also performed in the County Band Festival on Jan. 25. They are Christopher Knotwell, Ella Layton, Julia Paitsel, William Perkins, Allison Sauers, Hannah Stork, Griffin Sweigart and Hannah Watts.
