Penn Manor celebrates MU partnership at Opening Day

Penn Manor School District celebrated its longstanding partnership with Millersville University during Opening Day activities Monday, Aug. 21, to mark the start of the 2017-2018 school year.

Nearly 375 professional employees took part in the daylong event, which also included presentations by 20 industry representatives designed to help teachers better prepare students for entering the Lancaster County workforce.

All attendees who earned an undergraduate or graduate degree from Millersville received an MU penant and posed for a group shot with university officials. In all, 239 Penn Manor teachers and administrators have degrees from the neighboring university.

Vilas Prabhu, MU Provost and Dean for Academic Affairs, talked about the university’s strong partnership with Penn Manor. Also attending from MU were Brian Hazlett, Vice President for Enrollment Management, and George Drake, Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.

Opening Day ended in a most memorable way — with teachers viewing the solar eclipse.

Many thanks to all our presenters and participants!
