PM students earn Scholastic Writing Awards

Congratulations to the 13 Penn Manor students who won awards for outstanding writing in the 2015-2016 Lancaster County Scholastic Writing Awards competition, sponsored by Lancaster Public Library.

Penn Manor students won 14 Scholastic Awards, including three Gold Keys, the top honor, and six Silver Keys.

Four Penn Manor students also earned writing awards in the Newspaper in Education competition.

Peyton Cassel – Gold Key for poetry collection.
Erin Purzycki – Silver Key for critical essay, “Vaccinations.”
Gabriella Santiago – Silver Key for poetry, “Welcome to Society.”
Evan Toomey – Silver Key for poetry, “Leviticus 18:22,” “Frosty Won’t Be Back Again Some Day.”
Angela Wood – Silver Key for poetry, “Speak Up.”
Abigail Burrows – Honorable Mention for science fiction/fantasy, “Breaking Waves.”
MacKenzie Lewis – Honorable Mention for poetry, “Love and Guidance.”
Jessica Moore – Honorable Mention for poetry, “Points of View.”

Marticville Middle School

Audrey Ritchie – Gold Key for poetry, “Through the Looking Glass.”
Hannah Smith – Gold Key for poetry collection.
Alexander Roth – Silver Key for journalism, “The Technological Impact of Laptops on Maple Leaf Middle School.”
Quinn Strosser – Silver Key for science fiction, “Crawl and the Storm.”
Rachel Collison – Honorable Mention for poetry collection; Honorable Mention for short story, “Shattered.”

The students will receive their awards during a ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. March 6 at the Millersville University Ware Center in Lancaster.
