Hambright Elementary School second-graders got to taste everything from pilgrim stew, strawberry cake and pumpkin cookies to beans and rice, egg rolls and chicken wings during a Native American Feast held Friday at the school.
The food was provided by the students and their families, who were encouraged to make a dish that is a family favorite or a tradition for Thanksgiving. Students wrote out the recipes and compiled them into a cookbook for each second-grader to take home.
Parents, teachers and Hambright staff members were invited to share the communal meal, which was held in the cafeteria, adorned with colorful woven place mats made by the second-graders.
The feast is the culminating activity for the Native American unit taught at Hambright.
