The Penn Manor High School spring musical, “Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida,” will open on Friday, February 28, and run over two weekends.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. February 28 and March 1, 7 and 8 in the Penn Manor High School auditorium.
A contemporary musical take on a classic tale, “Aida” tells of the bond between the enslaved Nubian princess Aida and Egyptian soldier Radames. As their forbidden love blossoms, they are forced to face death or part forever. Their devotion transcends the cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity.
The musical features a pop-rock score with stirring ballads and rousing choral numbers and dancing.
Cast members include Dezire Diaz (Aida), James Reilly (Radames), Abby Geiger (Amneris), Mike Dempsey (Mereb), Jules Leddy (Nehebka), Coleman Hauber (Zoser), Paul Harrold (Pharoah) and Justin Torres (Amonasro).
