In remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001, Manor Middle School’s 8th-grade students each wrote “I Will…” statements on red, white, or blue pieces of paper. The statements were commitments to make one small difference in their world, community, school or family. One girl vowed to thank her cousin for serving in the U.S. Army; another pledged to plant a tree in honor of those who died on 9/11; a third student said she would “smile at everyone I see!”
The students then gathered in the school lobby to created two columns, about 50 feet in length, representing the World Trade Center towers. Manor Middle School’s Student Activities Council and Peer Helpers played a major role in the success of the endeavor.
