Penn Manor Fall Sports Teams Excel

It has been a great fall sports season for many of Penn Manor’s teams. Sophomore Katina Jones won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Flight One Singles Championship in tennis. This is the first time since 1996 that a Penn Manor tennis player has won the singles title. Katina was also awarded Section I All-Star and L-L League All-Star honors this year. She advances to Districts in singles this weekend at the Hershey Racquet Club. In addition, Katina and her doubles partner, sophomore Meghan McMurtrie, were selected to go to Districts in doubles on October 20.

The Penn Manor Boys’ Cross Country team won the school’s first ever Lancaster-Lebanon League Section I Championship! Going into the final regular season league meet, three teams were tied with undefeated records. The Comets finished strong over McCaskey and Warwick to capture the crown. Seniors Harrison Schettler, Jonathan Bitner, and Travis Wells finished the race 1-2-3 with freshman Joel Burkholder finishing 5th to secure the victory. Sophomore Greta Lindsley is once again setting the pace on the Penn Manor Girls’ Cross Country team. She finished the regular season undefeated. The runners will be back in action on Tuesday, October 16 as they compete at the L-L League Meet in Ephrata.

The Penn Manor Girls’ Field Hockey team secured their sixth consecutive Lancaster-Lebanon League Section I Championship on Wednesday night with a 4-0 win over Hempfield. This talented group of student  athletes will play on Saturday, October 13 at Ephrata when they start L-L League playoffs against Elizabethtown at 10 a.m.

Seniors Mark Dano and Aaron Brown both qualified for the District 3 Golf Tournament that was held on October 5 and 6 at Briarwood Golf Course.

The Penn Manor Football team is 6-0 going into this weekend’s homecoming game against Manheim Township. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12 at Millersville University’s Biemesderfer Field.

The Boys and Girls Soccer teams and the Girls Volleyball team are fighting hard to make the L-L League playoffs. Come out and support all of Penn Manor’s student athletes.
