Members of the Military will be honored at September 7th Football Game

The Penn Manor High School Football Team, Marching Band and Cheerleaders are hosting an evening to honor the men and woman who serve our county; active, reserve, veterans and those lost in the line of duty at the football game against Lampeter- Strasburg High School on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 6:30 PM. The game will be played at Millersville University Biemesderfer Stadium.

Members of the armed forces will be recognized throughout the evening. All military, past and present, will be admitted free with military identification. During Penn Manor Marching Band’s pre-game performance, individuals representing each branch of the armed services will be honored on the field.

Three of the many activities planned for the evening are as follows:

1)    Biodegradable balloons representing the name of active individuals who are currently serving in our military will be released by the Torbert family who lost their son, Eric Jr., a Penn Manor graduate and Marine, on December 18, 2010. Please provide the name of any active military service man or woman in advance of the game to  There is no limit to the number of names supplied. A name and address will be placed in each balloon with instructions.

2)    Monetary donations will be collected for the Wounded Warrior Project.  This project is used to support returning ill and injured troops through counseling, education, physical recreation and support with dignity.

3)    The Veterans Hospital Administration is in desperate need of supplies. The following items will be collected at the game.

  • Tooth brush
  • Disposable razors
  • Shaving cream
