Members of class of 2025 earn diplomas at commencement June 4

About 440 students received their diplomas June 4 before a raucous crowd as Penn Manor High School held commencement at Franklin & Marshall College for the Class of 2025.

A recording of the graduation ceremony is available on Penn Manor’s YouTube channel.

While introducing the Class of 2025, principal Doug Eby pointed out the many accomplishments of the graduates.

Ninety-two students maintained a GPA of 4.0 or better in their high school careers, and 33 seniors earned a total of 317 college credits while at Penn Manor. Among them were three students who completed their first year at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and two students who completed four semesters at Millersville University.

In addition, 352 seniors completed 537 advanced placement exams at Penn Manor.

Six members of the senior class have entered or plan to enter the military, and six are graduating with Global Scholarship designations. About 61 percent of graduates are planning to attend a two- or four-year college or career training program, and 31 percent are headed for the workforce.

Haley Frey, one of four commencement speakers, was named Student of the Year, and Sakshyym Chhantyal received the perfect attendance award.

In his address to the audience, valedictorian Jordan Chen marveled at how fast his four years of high school went by.

“Four years ago, we were walking the halls with our schedules screenshot on our phone lock screens, pretending we weren’t lost — even though we totally were,” he said. “And now we’re here, in caps and gowns, somehow on the other side of it all.”

“And the truth is, not all of us are headed in the same direction. Some of us are going to college, some to work, some into the unknown. But I believe this: Every person here carries something valuable into the world. Whether it’s creativity, compassion, loyalty, humor, quiet strength — you’ve already shaped the people around you,” he said. “And you’re not done.”

In addition to Jordan and Haley, salutatorian Tyler Hudson and Katie Eberts addressed the crowd.

In her closing address, Katie told her fellow graduates, “No matter where life takes you, you can now look back and say with pride that you have graduated from Penn Manor High School.”

We wish all our 2025 graduates all the best as they embark on life after high school!
