On Friday, October 23, fifth-graders from Central Manor went on a field trip to Junior Achievement’s BizTown.
Through this hands-on learning experience, students put their financial literacy, economics, and leadership skills into action.
Earlier in October, the students took part in elections for Mayor and District Attorney giving them a firsthand look at what it means to be part of a community and workplace. The students engaged in mock interviews with Penn Manor staff and administrators to better understand the importance of being an informed and responsible citizen.
Throughout the the field trip, students experienced what it’s like to run a community by making goods, providing services, earning and spending money, paying taxes, repaying business loans, and participating in the voting process.
They learned the importance of budgeting, responsibility, teamwork, and making informed financial decisions.
From managing businesses to taking on leadership roles, the students discovered how a community works together to keep the economy running.
We are so proud of our future leaders and the hard work they put into making JA BizTown a success!
