Teams place at Junior Envirothon competition

Since January, 59 students from Hambright Elementary School attended weekly after-school study sessions to prepare for the Junior Envirothon competition. The competition was hosted on Thursday, May 14 at Lancaster County Central Park.

The students were led by Hambright teacher’s Mr. Plumbo and Mr. Showalter. The competition was limited to 35 students per school. Across Lancaster County, there were 44 teams who entered the competition ranging from third through sixth grade. The competition consisted of 100 questions across four domains, with each question worth four points.

Envirothon is about building up self-esteem within students and developing relationships with their like-minded peers across grade levels. The students had fun and new relationships were formed!
