Freshmen participate in STEM Summit

Freshmen from Penn Manor High School participated in hands-on activities during the STEM Summit on February 24 and 25.

The STEM Summit provides students with information on a variety of careers and fields. Prior to heading to the stations, students watch a short video on the characteristics and traits that careers in the STEM field entail.

Students rotated between eight different stations, covering the following topics: biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental, manufacturing, math, technology, and trades.

Some of the activities included constructing a working sink, learning the science behind medical tests, identifying hardware utilized in home repairs, and constructing a bridge utilizing minimal materials.

The STEM Summit was sponsored by Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania.

Thank you to the community volunteers and Penn Manor students for your assistance in making this possible!
