Bus Aide

Substitute Teacher Service (STS) is accepting applications in the Penn Manor School District for the position of bus aide.

The duties of a bus aide include:
Supervising student behavior on the school bus with a view to ensuring safe and secure travel for all students and passengers.
If there are wheelchair bound students or students with mobility restrictions traveling on the school bus, assisting those students on and off the school bus.
If the school bus is fitted with seat belts, ensuring that those students the bus aide is responsible for and who are occupying seats fitted with seat belts that their seat belts are appropriately fastened for the duration of the journey.
Attending, where necessary, to the needs of individual students.
Demonstrating a positive, caring and supportive attitude to students at all times, including, where appropriate, engaging students in conversation.
Liaising with the driver on issues such as safety and comfort on the school bus, and working with the driver to ensure students are transported safely and in comfort.
Maintaining a neat and clean appearance when traveling on the school bus; and
Complying with the provisions of the contractor’s safety management plan as it applies to bus aides.

Bus aides must not:

Use or be under the influence of any drugs, including alcoholic beverages and prescribed medications, except where the bus aide is required to take medication and where the contractor has advised the PTA of that fact and has provided the PTA with a medical certificate which demonstrates that the medication will not in any way impair the bus aide’s ability to assist with the provision of the service.
Consume alcoholic beverages within eight hours prior to, or during, the time at which the bus aide performs the bus aide duties.
Use any profane or obscene language in the presence or hearing of any student; or
smoke while assisting with the provision of the service.

Substitute Personal Care Assistant

Substitute Teacher Service (STS) is accepting applications in the Penn Manor School District for the following position–Substitute Personal Care Assistant. Substitutes should be available to work at any of ten school buildings in the School District.  Applicants should be reliable, patient, caring, and have a positive attitude. CPR and First Aid required. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, students, and parents, and ability to maintain confidentiality are required. $9.90 per hour, interested individuals may apply by contacting Kay Diehl at k.diehl@thesubservice.com

 

Substitute Nurses

RNs and LPNs are needed for substitute school nurse and health room coverage at Penn Manor schools. Responsibilities include assessment of injury, illness and administration of medications. Substitute Cafeteria Workers

Penn Manor School District is accepting applications for the following position-Substitute Cafeteria Worker. Clearances

All applicants must obtain the following clearances:

Act 34

A Pennsylvania State Police criminal history record must be submitted by the applicant. The criminal history record form must be first submitted to the Pennsylvania State Police. Click for Act 34

Act 114

A Federal Criminal history record must be submitted by the applicant. Please follow the procedures outlined at the following site to obtain this record.

The new employee must provide the PAE number and the verification form from the fingerprinting site to the appropriate personnel secretary.  This form lists the registration number.  The actual clearance is not mailed to the candidate.  School district officials view the FBI report online using the PAE number issued to the candidate.

Act 151

The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance must be completed and first submitted to the Department of Public Welfare.  Click for Act 151 

After receiving the clearances all professional position candidates should submit copies to PA Educator where they will be scanned and added to your credentials.  If a candidate is employed by the district then original clearances that are no more than one year old must be presented to district office personnel for verification.  Photocopies are not acceptable.
