Act 150 of 2015 requires ALL prospective employees, current employees, independent contractors and volunteers to get and renew criminal background checks (both Pennsylvania State Police as well as FBI) and child abuse clearances on a five-year cycle.  More information about the application process for these clearances is available here:

Position: Payroll Coordinator, FT, M-F  7:30am-4:00pm
Pay Range: $15.63-$19.54

Penn Manor School District is currently recruiting for a seasoned Payroll Coordinator to process payroll for all exempt and non-exempt employees. Ideal candidates will have a background in payroll processing, benefits, auditing, data entry and assisting in report distribution.
Ability to take initiative and provide solutions on process improvements within the payroll process. Key factors for this position will be as follows:

  • Process payroll for all employees
  • Handling the processing of all payroll taxes
  • Responsible for monitoring benefits deductions and administer the deductions
  • Will be troubleshooting all payroll issues with MUNIS/Tyler Technologies or other payroll systems within a school district environment.
  • Must have advanced Excel skills.
  • Comfortable working in a paper intensive environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for 650+ employees;
  • Understand Federal, PA state, Local tax income taxes;
  • Maintain payroll data files; create new employee records, populate and update information. Ensures accuracy of Direct Deposit transactions;
  • Receive, verify and manage the coordination of incoming timesheet information, utilizing electronic, and paper timesheets, balance timecard batch input to the payroll system.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and checks payroll forms and reports for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments or corrections;
  • Creates and maintains payroll account codes using Munis/Tyler Technologies;
  • Sets up and reconciles voluntary payroll deductions, prepared reports, identifies and researches exceptions, is familiar with ACA requirements;
  • Processes garnishments which include child support, tax levies, student loans, etc.;
  • Research, analyzes, and resolves payroll-related problems or questions;
  • Prepared reports: bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly (reporting/processing for worker’s compensation, EEO, census, headcount, time off, overtime, etc.);
  • Processes and maintains W-4 tax data;
  • Responsible for processing ACA forms at year-end; conduct semi-audits of all payroll reports.
  • Input and review sick, personal and vacation balances to ensure compliance with policies and accrual schedules.
  • Ensure Accuracy, Timeliness and Confidentiality: Execute timely closing processes inquiries from employees on a timely basis.

Job Requirements

 PREFERRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive school payroll experience;
  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines, with flexibility;
  • Should be able to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues;
  • Must be exceeding well organized, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple simultaneous deadlines, while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • Integration experience of new payroll software is a plus
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime during the normal business week and weekends, if needed.

 ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS would be helpful:

  • Prior experience with Munis/Tyler Technologies preferred; experience with Frontline Technologies products
  • Integration experience of new payroll software is preferred
  • Must have advanced Excel experience

Payroll certification-FPC or CPP would be a plus
