School closures extended indefinitely

Updated March 30, 2020 — Schools are now closed indefinitely.

Updated March 23, 2020 — The state Department of Education has announced that all schools will remain closed through at least April 6 as a result of the COVID-19 response efforts. The closure order could be extended beyond April 6 if necessary to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus and save lives.

Under the new timeline, schools would reopen on April 7 for two days to allow school administrators, teachers and other staff time to prepare classrooms, set up cafeterias, schedule transportation and arrange other business operations. Students would return to school on April 9, unless the closure is extended in response to the situation involving the virus.

April 9 and April 13, which were previously snow make-up days, will be used as school days. There will be no school on April 10 (Good Friday).

While school is closed, Penn Manor plans to implement optional at-home student learning plans for grade levels and subjects. Teachers and administrators will be meeting this week to formulate details on delivering these activities to families beginning Monday, March 30.

The district also will continue to deliver meals to students at their regular morning bus stops this Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Details and updates regarding the food delivery program are available here.

Please check back for updates later this week regarding the optional at-home learning plans, and please stay safe.
