Manor FFA members earned multiple awards at the chapter’s 56th annual banquet, held recently in the Penn Manor High School cafeteria.
Keynote speaker Johnathan Noss, the state FFA chaplain, shared his life story with the crowd and talked about how FFA changed his life.
Manor FFA members received awards for scholarship, proficiency and leadership, along with Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) grants and degrees.
Here are the awards won by students:
Scholarship – Ellie Barley, Cheyanne Ditzler, Wesley Herr, Katey Bleacher, Sammy Bleacher, Emily Alexander, Boyd Barley, Evan Ressler, Samantha Garrett, Justin High, Rose Drumm, Nate Phan, Jonathan Eshbach, Luke Frey, Arilyn Tegtmeier and Rebecca High.
Proficiency – Arilyn Tegtmeier, Katey Bleacher, Kayla McLain, Kenny Barley, Nate Phan, Rose Drumm, Neve Consylman, Samantha Garrett, Shelby Martin and Wesley Herr.
Leadership – Sammy Bleacher, Ellie Barley, Melodie Garrett, Nathan Phan, Katey Bleacher, Arilyn Tegtmeier, Rebecca High, Jonathan Eshbach, Luke Frey, Kyle Bushong, Bailey Smith, Katelyn Welsh, Richard Beamsderfer, Boyd Barley, Cheyanne Ditzler, Wesley Herr, Rose Drumm and Justin High.
SAE Start-Up Grant – Samantha Garrett, Melodie Garrett, Luke Frey, Liz Broderick and Rebecca High. The grants enable students to experiment in new areas of agricultural interest.
SAE Expansion Grant – Boyd Barley, Allison Lowe, Rebecca High, Rose Drumm and Arilyn Tegtmeier. The grants help students expand their current SAE projects.
Fifty-one students were awarded Greenhand Degrees, the first-year degree for FFA members. Kyle Bushong received The Star in Greenhand Placement, Rebecca High earned the Star in Greenhand Production, and Arilyn Tegtmeier received the Star in Agriscience.
Twelve students earned their Chapter Degrees, the second-year FFA degree. In addition, Kenney Barley earned the Star Chapter in Placement and Clara Hess earned the Star Chapter in Production.
Eleven students were awarded their Red Rose Degrees, the third-year FFA degree, and Wesley Herr received the County Star Red Rose in Placement.
Fourteen students earned their Keystone Degrees, the second-highest degree in FFA. They are: Emily Alexander, Ellie Barley, Katey Bleacher, Sammy Bleacher, Joel Burkholder, Cheyanne Ditzler, Emily Ferrick, Justin High, Katie Huber, Chad Goshert, Aiden Kimmet, Scott Neff, Kara Rohrer and Nate Phan.
Four FFA members who have graduated earned their American Degrees, the highest degree attainable in FFA. They are: Victoria Herr, Katie Hess, Jesse Burkholder and Aaron Breneman.
At the close of the banquet, FFA officers were installed for 2016-2017. They are: Samantha Garrett, Rose Drumm, Wesley Herr, Boyd Barley, Elizabeth Broderick, Melodie Garrett, Rebecca High, Clara Hess, Arilyn Tegtmeier, Kenny Barley, Emily Aukamp, Cherish Frick and Tanner Bauman.
