FFA Team 2015

Manor FFA members earn agronomy awards

Members of the Manor FFA chapter at Penn Manor High School earned awards recently in the National FFA Agronomy Career Development Event, held during the National FFA Convention & Expo in Louisville, Ky.

The team, led by adviser Neil Fellenbaum, was awarded a Bronze emblem. In addition, individual members competed against 140 other participants for individual awards. Katelyn Bleacher and Wesley Herr each received Silver emblems, and Nathan Phan and Aiden Kimmet received Bronze emblems.

The agronomy competition requires students to apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations. The participants’ knowledge of agronomic sciences was tested through several levels of competition, including developing solutions for problematic growing scenarios; identification of seeds, insects, soil and crops; and other management practices.

The convention was held Oct. 28-31 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
