Congratulations to Manor Middle School, which was recently recognized as a “High Achievement” Title I school by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Manor earned the honor by scoring among the top 5 percent of Title I schools in the state on math and English language arts PSSA tests and Keystone Exams.
Manor Principal Dr. Dana Edwards attributed the students’ strong academic performance to the efforts of the staff.
“We are truly blessed in so many ways, but this award is about each and every one of our staff caring deeply about our students and finding creative solutions to issues that many times are beyond the students’ control,” he said. “First and foremost, it starts with strong relationships, and Manor Middle School staff hit it out of the park.”
The Title I program provides funds to schools with large numbers of economically disadvantaged students. Approximately 42 percent of Manor’s population falls into that category. At Manor, Title I funds pay for personnel to provide instruction and support to students and their families to overcome barriers that may hinder academic success.
As a “High Achievement” school, Manor will participate in upcoming Title I conferences to address a variety of topics, such as school effectiveness, empowerment and mindset.
This is the second year in a row the school has earned Title I honors. Last year, Manor was named a Title I High Progress school.
