Penn Manor student earns national music honor

Penn Manor High School senior Caleb Breidenbaugh has been selected to perform with some of the most talented student musicians from across the United States on the Grand Ole Opry Stage in Nashville in October.

Caleb was named a member of the All-National Honor Ensemble, a group of “the best of the best” musicians from across the country, who will perform at the National Association for Music Education’s National In-Service Conference in Nashville Oct. 28.

He is one of only 25 student musicians from Pennsylvania to earn the honor and the first student from Penn Manor to be chosen to perform. Caleb, a percussionist, qualified through a rigorous audition process after earning the right to compete on the state level.

The All-National Honor Ensembles consist of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed choir and jazz ensemble. The students are rehearsing a challenging repertoire in preparation for performing under five of the most prominent conductors in the United States: Ann Howard Jones (mixed choir); Jung-Ho Pak (symphony orchestra); Eugene Migliaro Corporon (concert band); and Sherman Irby and Todd Stoll (jazz ensemble).

Caleb was honored by Penn Manor school board Sept. 21 with a commendation for his “outstanding achievement in musical performance.”

Congrats, Caleb, and best wishes for a fine performance!
