14 PM students earn Scholastic Writing awards

Congratulations to the 14 Penn Manor students who won awards for outstanding writing in the 2014-2015 Lancaster County Scholastic Writing Awards competition, sponsored by Lancaster Public Library.

Another student, Veronica Cazillo, a high school freshman, won first-place for an editorial in the Newspaper in Education writing competition.

Penn Manor students won 16 Scholastic Awards, including seven Gold Keys, the top honor. The students will receive their awards during a ceremony beginning at 8 p.m. March 13 at Spooky Nook Sports Complex.

Here are the honored students and their awards:

Penn Manor High School

James Bausano – Gold Key for personal essay/memoir “Clear Skies”; Silver Key for personal essay/memoir “Love at First Sight.”
Elizabeth McIlhenney – Gold Key for short story “Remembrance”; Honorable Mention for writing portfolio.
Christian Strother – Gold Key for poetry, “Quiet Forests.”
Alexandra Drake – Silver Key for personal essay/memoir “Her Name was Anxiety.”

Manor Middle School

Ashley Seiger – Honorable Mention for poetry collection.

Marticville Middle School

Hailey Fafel – Gold Key for poetry, “Run Little One” and “Dreams”; Honorable Mention for flash fiction, “Parallel.”
Emma Spearing – Gold Key for flash fiction, “The Moment.”
Aliya Trussell – Gold Key for science fiction/fantasy, “Penpoint.”
Jadyn Hess – Gold Key for short story “All That Matters.”
Rachel Collison – Gold Key for science fiction/fantasy, “Shadows.”
Danny Foltz – Silver Key for science fiction/fantasy, “DAY 365”
