Every year since 1984, area farmers and members of Penn Manor High School’s FFA have visited 3rd grade classrooms across the district. The students in all seven elementary schools hear presentations on growing fruits and vegetables, raising hogs, sheep, poultry and running a dairy farm. Students at Martic Elementary (pictured) met a sheep up close during the Manor FFA presentation. They learned facts about sheep, what products come from sheep, and also how to show a sheep at local fairs. In addition to the presentations, the “Ag in the Classroom curriculum” features classroom lessons and worksheets.
