As one of three full-time speech therapists employed in the Penn Manor School District, I serve students at Martic Elementary, Pequea Elementary, Marticville Middle School, and Penn Manor High School.
My role as a therapist is to work with students who have communication difficulties such as articulation problems, stuttering, language skills, and voice disorders. I have students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. To meet their individual needs, I, along with their teachers and parents, develop unique goals for each child and address these goals in anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes a cycle or more. I meet with children individually or in groups. I also see many of my kindergarten students in their classroom during center times.
This year I have also implemented a screening process for all kindergarten and first grade students to help with the early identification of communication needs. All parents of upcoming kindergartners will have the opportunity to have their child screened at the beginning of each year. Parents of students in other grades may contact their child's school if they would like to request an evaluation of their child's speech or language.
