The river between us by Richard Peck. Two mysterious ladies flee New Orleans during the start of the Civil War and travel to Indiana to live. This book is a reald good and informative book. Reviewed by Amanda.

 

Girl in a cage by Jane Yolen. This story is about a Scottish princess named Marjorie who is captured by the King of England. Then she is put in a cage where she has to endure the jeering of peasants, fight the elements, and stand up to the people that abuse her to make her father proud. This was a really awesome book. Anyone who wants to read a really good book on survial and someone standing up for their rights should read this book. Reviewed by Mary.

 

Grape thief by Kristine Franklin. Basically, it is about a boy who's brothers run away. His family doesn't have enough money. He must quit school, which he loves, to get a job. He can't find a job and is faced with the decision of leaving town. This was an excellent book. It really gives you detail on the life of people in that time period. If I had to rate this book I would give it ten out of ten. The characters in this book surprise you when you least suspect it. Reviewed by Mitch.
