Fused Glass Project Students from Mr. Jackson’s and Miss Santinello’s Pre-Alg 8 classes made and decorated stained glass as part of their PSSA prep and project for the Geometry part of the PSSA. Students picked a geometric shape from the COACH book. They made the shape on white paper and copied the shape onto the stained glass. Mr. Jackson cut out the shapes and then the students added designs onto the glass. With the aide of Laverne Hutchison, mother in-law for Mr. Jackson, students put frit, decals, stringers, glass paint, hearts and rectangles, and other pieces of glass onto the original glass shape. A clear piece of glass was cut to match the original shape and then a “hook” was added between the glass so that the pieces could be hung on a tree or in a window. The pieces were transported to Mrs. Hutchison’s kiln in Lancaster. Finished pieces were graded and returned to the students. Each piece had different designs. Some favorites included some skate boarders, PM wrestling, Love themes and even one for DAD ! |
