Course Description:
Manor Middle School's Art program promotes creativity, develops critical thinking skills and enhances self-esteem. Our curriculum aligns to the Pennsylvania State Art Standards. Art classes meet twice a cycle for a double period for one semester. Our projects are presented as visual problems to be solved, allowing for constant decision making on the part of the student. Lessons are developed as Discipline Based Art Education including art history, art criticism, aesthetics and production. Reading and writing are integrated into the curriculum. Students create and keep a sketchbook for the semester. They will record notes, do preliminary work for projects, do homework sketches and journal entries in this book.
