CISCO Network Technician Prep Course I
Grade 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Overall grade point average of "C" or better. No network violations.
This class begins to prepare students to be Systems Administrators. The class is the first of three courses designed to provide students with classroom and laboratory experience in networking technology. The course heavily emphasizes the academic knowledge and testing skills needed to be successful in the information technology field. Emphasis is placed on students entering employment and/or further education in the computer-networking field. Some topics of instruction include safety, networking, terminology and protocols, network standards, LANs, WANs, OSI models, cabling, cabling tools, routers, router programming, star technologies, IP addressing, and networking standards. Students completing this program with a B or better are eligible to take Network Engineering II for Honors Credit.

Students are encouraged to complete Network Engineering I and II with the goal of taking the CISCO Certified Network Associate Certificate Exam. A nominal lab fee will be charged to offset the cost of materials.
