What is the six-day cycle?

Our school operates on a 6-day schedule. The first day of school each year is called Day 1; the next is Day 2, etc. The school day, which follows day 6, begins another cycle as Day 1, and the cycle continues. The advantage of this system is that classes are never "skipped" when holidays or snow days fall on weekdays. In the traditional 5-day cycle, classes scheduled for Thursdays, for example, would be missed over Thanksgiving vacation. As a numbered day, however, the "skipped" day simply is rescheduled for the next day that school is in session, with its scheduled classes.
