Eshleman Kindergarten

PRE-READING/READING

We read with and to the children every day--from big books, class-made books, individual books. This may be whole group, small group, or individually. Book knowledge, word recognition, phonics are taught through these.

MATH

We insist on hands-on learning! The children are involved with manipulatives. They create patterns, learn numerals and number skills with these.

WRITING

Our goal is to have the children write on a daily basis. We will model writing and they will then be able to express themselves in writing.

CENTERS

This is a time when the children are able to work at their own pace, develop a sense of responsibility, and practice the skills that they are learning. They will be required to go to the math, reading, and wiritng centers daily. Then they may choose where they would like to go--blocks, housekeeping, art, computers, puzzles, snack, clay, science, fine motor.
