· In
writing, we work daily on grammar and mechanic skills by doing a daily edit
every morning.
· We
work on writing quality sentences and paragraphs in all subjects.
· We
create informative, persuasive, and narrative writing pieces by going through
the writing process. The children go through the following steps to complete a
quality piece: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing.
· We
also work on poetry throughout the year. As the children publish poems, we
display them for a time and then store them. At the end of the year, the
children will make a book of their published poems to take home.
· The
children will also complete an extensive research project that will include
note taking, outlining, final report, and a bibliography.
