Writing Workshop:
Students will have the opportunity
to write stories, poems, pen pal letters, and informational pieces
on a daily basis. We will be reviewing capitalization and punctuation
rules, grammar, spelling patterns, and story structure to fine
tune our writing skills. Students can look forward to publishing
their writing and sharing stories in the "Author's Chair" with
their peers.
Handwriting:
We will also be
working to develop good penmanship by reviewing
printed letters and learning the cursive
letters.
Spelling:
The students will be encouraged
to sound out words and spell accurately within the context of
their writing. A personal dictionary containing high frequency
words, as well as a regular dictionary will be used as reference
tools. Spelling tests will be given every Friday. Each student
will have a standard list of spelling words to study with the
option to study four challenge words.
