Discover the Joy of Reading

The students will be exposed to a variety of literature through various approaches...

During whole group instruction all of the students will be reading the same book. Most of the literature being used will reinforce what we are learning in social studies and science.

During small group instruction, also referred to as guided reading, involves grouping students by skill level. The purpose is to reinforce reading skills specific to that group of children.

Self-selected reading involves the students choosing books that are "just right" for them. With teacher guidance, students will read books from a variety of genres that match their ability.

Each day the students will listen to the teacher read aloud. The students will be exposed to a variety of literature as the teacher models good reading habits.
