Living Wax Museum
In May the halls of Conestoga were filled with such notable personalities as Ben Franklin, Rosa Parks, Daniel Boone, and Princess Diana.
As the culminating activity for a reading unit on biographies, the 4th graders created a Living Wax Museum. Each student chose a hero from history and read a chapter book about that person. Then they prepared and practiced a short speech telling about their heroes' lives from the first person point of view.
On the day of the museum, the students dressed in costumes and froze in their poses until family, friends, and primary students stepped on their nameplate buttons to activate their speeches. Then history came alive!
