National Emergency Information -
Letter to Parents
February 18, 2003 Lately, there has been much discussion and concern related to the potential
for a national emergency perhaps triggered by terrorist activities. It
is important that you understand what actions Penn Manor Schools would
take should such an incident occur.
1. Evacuation in the event
of a terrorist act is not part of our emergency plan. Evacuations could occur at only one school Ð Martic Elementary
School. This is because
Martic falls within the predetermined evacuation radius should there
be an incident at Peach Bottom. Should
there be an incident at Peach Bottom, Martic students would be evacuated
to Marticville Middle School. 2. In most other situations,
the plan at all ten Penn Manor Schools would be to prepare to support
parents' efforts to pick up their children in a safe and orderly fashion. 3. Penn Manor Schools will
cooperate with County and State Emergency Management agencies when they
issue emergency recommendations. To support your child and your child's school it would
be important to do the following: 1. Make sure that all emergency
contact information and contact telephone numbers are current. 2. If you have not done
so already, provide your child;s school with the names and contact information
of individuals who are permitted to remove your child from school. (You may have already indicated this
information on your child's Emergency Card.) 3. If your child has specific
medical or medication needs, make sure that the school has adequate directions
and medications to meet your child's needs.
Penn Manor will
continue to partner with our parents to protect our children in the case
of a national emergency.
Sincerely, Donald
F. Stewart Superintendent
